Côté’s Commentaries

YOUR REAL GOALS

Any day is a good time to review your goals and steps toward them, not just New Year’s. And the world economy is presently insecure, and may surprise you.

So remember two principles which are always sound, especially when you combine them:

1. Life can be unpredictable, so play safe. Take steps to secure yourself and yours, against the results of future misfortune.

2. Pay attention to the important things in your life, and do not let the week’s urgent but less important things distract you.

– Hon. J.E. Côté

The Commentaries are intended to call the attention of lawyers to promising or threatening developments in the law, in civil procedure, in developing their skills, or simply to describe something curious, funny or intriguing.

The Hon. Jean Côté retired from the Court of Appeal of Alberta and would be willing to act as an arbitrator, mediator, or referee under Rules 6.44 and 6.45 of the Alberta Rules of Court.
